Giving Tuesday 2019

As you may know, ALIVE Rescue’s 2019 Giving Tuesday campaign will benefit The Big Barn. The Big Barn will be our second brick-and-mortar location and it will serve as a sanctuary for some of our dogs that need it the most. Our goal is $35,000, but we can’t do it without you.

The Big Barn is in Salem Lakes, Wisconsin (very close to the border of Illinois). The right to use this beautiful piece of property (4,800 square foot barn on 70 acres!) was donated to ALIVE Rescue from previous adopters, and it will allow us to more than DOUBLE our intake. The Big Barn will house up to 40 dogs at a time and will have indoor and outdoor play areas, outdoor trails, a retirement room, and two whelping rooms.

Why do dogs need a sanctuary like The Big Barn?

  • Some dogs tend to deteriorate in a “traditional” shelter setting (lack of stimulation, lack of exercise, etc.)
  • Some dogs need a little extra TLC before they’re ready to go to their forever home (or even a foster home). This could include seniors, pregnant/nursing moms and behavioral dogs.
  • Some dogs can’t find a foster home right away and need a retreat-like place to feel safe and decompress. This is the case for many of our “long term residents.”

This project has been a long time coming and we are finally ready to break ground! Below you’ll see our preliminary project timeline (which may change throughout the project – but don’t worry, we will keep you updated).

Our Giving Tuesday goal of $35,000 will put a dent in the $500,000+ funds we need to raise to complete this game-changing project.
