Our animals come from various backgrounds and situations. What they all have in common after arrival, is the need for safety, love, and medical care. By sponsoring an animal through our Pay It Paw-ward program, the needs of our animals are met while they begin their journey to a forever home. Sonia is a member of our sponsorship team who corresponds with families and provides updates on their selected animals. Sonia shares how she started volunteering and why the sponsorships we receive are crucial to ALIVE….
“I found ALIVE after losing my boxer, Zion. The rescue gave me new purpose, and their compassion for animals and humans is beyond anything I ever imagined. At first I didn’t know if I had the courage to volunteer at a rescue, but universal forces led me to ALIVE, and I am thankful.
My heart is with the animals, and I don’t know any other place where I feel more alive and useful. The rescue does more for me than I could ever do for them. My grief pushed me to continue to honor the lives of my boys by getting more involved in the generous work ALIVE Rescue does. As a result, I decided to join the sponsorship team!
The sponsorship program at ALIVE does so much beyond the traditional items you expect them to receive via donations. These items are crucial to the animal’s happiness which is #1, but these programs also increase awareness about the plight of shelter animals in Chicago. We have come a long way over the past few years as we aim towards a No-Kill city, but there is more to be done! This is why the ALIVE Rescue Pay it Paw-ward program is pivotal - Recurring donations help save the lives of animals who after receiving food, medical care, heart-worm/flea prevention, vaccinations, and other supplies - become adoptable. When animals receive this care and are adopted, they open a spot for another animal in need. We would be lost without our generous sponsorship donors who help keep our animals healthy and safe.”
